Resurfacing

Things are a LOT more manageable this week. I've actually had a couple of days to breathe, reply to emails, tick things off the to-do list that have been sitting there so long they've started to grow moss. Like this interview with the lovely Giorgina of Decor Medley. Thanks Giorgina :)

Can't blog without pics... some new Ginkgo in Snow in the works...

With olive dots... ooooh.

People I haven't seen in months ask me "so what have you been up to?" and all I can say is "work". That's disturbing isn't it?

Ink & Spindle Open Studio this weekend!

Ink & Spindle open studio poster
artwork by Sixto from Too Yeah Media. Thanks Sixto!!

It's that time of year again - Ink & Spindle is having another open studio! And this time we're giving you more than a day's notice. How organised are we!

Yesterday we received a lovely email out of the blue from the very talented Sixto (check out his full name, awesome huh?) saying:

"I've been getting into a bit of poster design, and as a regular visitor of your blog, I couldn't help but be inspired by Ink and Spindle's infectious bubbliness that I spent some of my spare studio time last week designing a poster for your open studio this Saturday."

How incredibly generous is that?? And how cute is that poster? I do like to think we work in a castle.

Anyway, open studio details repeated below:

Ink & Spindle Open Studio
Saturday 25th July
10am - 1pm
Suite 206, Level 2
10 Elizabeth St
Kensington VIC 3031

Hope to see you there! We'll have some nibblies and some fabric & kits to peruse. We wont be doing a demo print run, but maybe next time.

xx.

I'll print, you make pretty things...

Ink & Spindle in the Melbourne Design Guide
I&S in the Melbourne Design Guide - yay!

Of all weekends to be in town, the weekend past probably would have taken the cake. There was This is not a Design Market (I'm yet to find out if it was any good!?), Melbourne Open House, and Design Made Trade, all on at once.

However I spent the weekend down at Aireys Inlet having a much needed break with my girly friends drinking copious cups of tea, going for long walks and playing board games (I do get slightly manic when playing Taboo). Definitely a worthy substitute for the aforementioned.

Bee and I did manage to get to Design Made Trade on Thursday anyway. We chatted to lots of lovely peeps and found ourselves in the Melbourne Design Guide. That was definitely one of those surreal moments where you think back to a time not long ago when you never imagined being in such a book...

All I've been doing otherwise is printing like a mad woman, so here's some lovely things that other people have been doing:

The very talented Maria from kidacollective has been making these gorgeous play dresses from my Birch fabric:

And then there's the equally talented Jacqui who won the Ink & Spindle giveaway! Under strict instructions not to 'stash' her winnings she has revamped and reupholstered this chair with my new Rooftops fabric:

Thanks ladies from making such beautiful things, brightening my day and giving me something to blog about!!

Still here!

sunny winter's day at my desk
Open window by my desk and winter sunshine warming my boots - happiness

Yep I'm still alive. Still drowning in to-do's and yet no blogging. I'm experiencing that scary feeling of whenever I have two seconds to take a breather I'm convinced that there must be something I'm forgetting to do.

At Ink & Spindle we're busy printing, printing, printing... both for customers and also stocking up our own range for the Sydney Stitches & Craft Show. We have some new designs and colours on the way, all very exciting.

For lack of any relevant photos here's a token photo of cushions made for the Melbourne Design Market:

cushions - blog fodder

I took this photo in the loft, which is soon to be a boxing gym. For anyone who's visited our studio you'll know that this is a seriously disappointing turn of events. We love the loft, having run of that big bright airy space, dreaming of potential warehouse parties we could have up there and most importantly access to the rooftop:

Seriously daggy self portrait taken from rooftop before I have to say goodbye to the view

I promise to take some proper pictures soon!
